THE FIRST thing to remember about the Beach Boys is they're a family. When Brian Wilson formed the band in 1961, he recruited his two younger brothers, Carl and Dennis — his first cousin, Mike Love — and his high school classmate, Al Jardine. Despite constant feuding, these family ties have kept the Beach Boys together longer than the Who or the Rolling Stones and twice as long as the Beatles.
