Buffalo Tom, Giant Sand, Sebadoh: Whisky a Go Go, Los Angeles CA

Mark Kemp, L.A. Weekly, 4 June 1992

IN A PERFECT world, this hot bill would have been inverted. Sincere as Buffalo Tom is, the group's latest album, Let Me Come Over, doesn't approach former Dinosaur Jr bassist Lou Barlow's Sebadoh III. It doesn't have the gloriously ragged songs, and it definitely doesn't have III's sweeping, three-dimensional scope. As it turns out, Sebadoh didn't even get its name on the marquee until two hours before the gig, apparently because no one at the Whisky knew how to spell it. Come showtime, while Dinosaur Jr was scheduled to appear on Letterman later that night, Sebadoh played a mere half-hour set on Buffalo Tom's time.
