Bobby Bland & B.B. King: Together Again... Live (Impulse IMPL-8027) ***

Mick Brown, Sounds, 28 August 1976

BOBBY BLAND and B.B. King's last collaborative recording posed the question "When is a live album not a live album?" The answer is when it's recorded in the studio in front of an 'audience' of 100 or so specially-invited musicbiz guests, clinking glasses and whooping it up on cue. The result was forced spontaneity — not only a contradiction in terms, but no way to bring out the best of King and Bland on vinyl.
