SET IN maybe half an acre of ground, 56 Hope Road, Kingston 6 is a sprawling, wood-fronted, two-storey detached house, its flaking cream paint seeming to symbolise the decayed colonial gentry for whom it was originally built and who are now mostly long gone from Jamaica.
