Blondie: Parallel Lines (Chrysalis)
Stephen Demorest, Rock Scene, February 1979
ABOUT HALFWAY through this fine album, I began to feel disappointed. Blondie is so widely recommended I'd hoped to at last muster some real enthusiasm for this team, but I find I still can't get swept away by their undeniably attractive records. Parallel Lines is an interesting set of songs, the band plays hot, and I'm sure it's their best album to date. Ultimately, though, it still feels lightweight, for as easy as Blondie is to like, Blondie is also easy to get tired of.
