Beauty And The Beat: Bill Nelson Keeps a Diary

Paul Yamada, Washington Tribune, September 1982

A DOOR OPENS to reveal a long hall, splendidly lit by candelabra, clenched by almost human hands, attached to the wall at the elbow. The walls are alive and the arms move, pointing a direction that the visitor must follow. Soon enough the visitor enters a lavish chamber and, gazing into a mirror, finds herself extraordinarily robed. Candelabra dance and gargoyle carvings become animate, ghoulishly staring at the young woman. Suddenly a magnificently clothed beast (of both ursine and feline features) appears, obviously desirous of the visitor. Seeing him, Beauty faints.
