JOHN LENNON was the first to enter the Southend Odeon. He strolled across the stage looking very un-Beatlish in a suede cap and huge dark glasses. Paul McCartney and George Harrison, identical in black polo neck sweaters and leather jackets, followed, and Ringo Starr tagged along behind.
