MOST AM RADIO DEEJAYS of the 1960s used airtime to cultivate their own images between records; very few paid serious attention to the music they programmed. Foremost among those who did was B. Mitchel Reed. He was what Jerry Wexler would have called "a herald and an enunciator of the new music."
