BACK IN 2002, Ashanti could do no wrong. The first R&B signing to Irv Gotti’s controversial hip-hop label, Murder Inc, the sweet-sounding singer had huge hits both with her own material — the chart-topping 'Foolish' saw her tagged as the new Mary J. Blige — and in duets with Ja Rule and Fat Joe, in which she provided the perfect foil for the pair’s gruff raps.
