An Interview with John Prine
Norman Jopling, unpublished, September 1972
JOHN PRINE IS THE GUY that sang the song about the hole in Daddy's arm where all the money goes, and a whole bunch of other good songs besides. Why, he even made the top of 208's LP chart! He just had a good short season at the Bitter End, a Greenwich Village showcase for any hot new talent that can squeeze on to its tiny stage. Even reclusive Bob Dylan came around, hidden under a big black hat, to join John onstage and give the people something to tell their kids about. Both their names are listed outside the club on a noticeboard that reads like a folk-rock Who's Who.
