"Though it's cold," she says. "And I forgot to bring a scarf." Williams, 55, has been making records for decades, earning a rep as a songwriters' songwriter. "I've never fit in," she cackles. "I once sent a demo to Sony in L.A., who said it was too country, so they sent it to Sony in Nashville, who said it was too rock. I just thought: Fuck you, I'm moving on..."'
